I'm excited to bake again! In August! I won't go into what I'm doing at the moment but I really do miss BAKING. Not eating but BAKING. I love to bake and give it away but I'm also a tasting baker - there is always one cookie less than what I give away haha... so I know baking right NOW won't work out at all.
BUT!!! the awesome thing is everyone can look forward to Joy the Baker's Chocolate Peanut Butter Cupcakes in August (i know... don't judge... maybe by August people will forget that I'm a complete J the B fanatic and am buying an ice cream maker soon...)
Here's a picture of them from joythebaker.com...
print it off... put it up on your wall with August post-it noted on there. Stare at it and have dirty baked good fantasies involving flour combining with eggs and confectioner's sugar taking on peanut butter as a lover...
by the way St. Louis was awesome! my friend found her wedding dress and if you've never seen "THE FACE" when you find "THE DRESS" i highly recommend seeing it at least once. it's an affirmation that love exists.

Happy Memorial Weekend!

hi-lights: enlightener + 20vol
If you're a stylist, you just understood what I put for my title. If you're not... consult your stylist.
This is just some hi-lights from OTHER work today (let me preface this by stating I'm not sure why I'm awake.):
BULLET POINTS!
This is just some hi-lights from OTHER work today (let me preface this by stating I'm not sure why I'm awake.):
BULLET POINTS!
- a man asked if I was in high school today. then asked what my degree was... and thought I said Traffic Design *daydreams* ...mmm traffic typography...
- some co-workers and I were talking about our lack of social life. a co-worker says to me, "oh, but you're under 21 right?" I responded, "I'm 24..." response?? "...oh wow....." HAH day maker
- a lady who looked EXACTLY like this lady thanked me for being the same race she was. i... *shrugs* hey... I mean I enjoy it why can't other people? haha
- I helped an 80 year old man send an email from iPhoto to a colleague. He called me a genius and a peach and wished me luck in my future career as a graphic designer. I wanted to take him home but they told us in training specifically not to kidnap customers... maybe... it's all fuzzy now.
Oh and member that one time I had a nose ring? It's gone now. Just... came out of my nose. Plain and simple. No fuss. No fireworks. *sniffle* my nose cries every day now. Getting it re-pierced in 3 weeks.
Why AM I awake? I'm so tired I could eat a horse. g'night!

birthdays, baby burritos & bifurcated nostrils
ADVENTUUUURE! this is what i say when i'm excited about things haha. and it's usually a precursor to a long post. Get ready!
First off. BIRTHDAY. It wasn't really... EVENTFUL but it was probably the best birthday I've had in a long time. Jayme sent me flowers shaped like a cupcake! I cried a little bit haha. My family and I ate at Giordano's (the AWESOME one on Rush) and got the coolest knitting bag EVER. I know... lame! Except it's not - it's frickin' amazing! And you'll want one when I show you. Be prepared for that. AND my seesters got me a Starbucks travel cold cup! It looks like a clear plastic cold cup you get that occasional Venti Caramel Macchiato in... cept YOU DON'T THROW IT AWAY cuz it's a tumbler! mind blown right? Get one!
(sidenote: i am very distracted by Glee by the moment. this is gonna take FOREVER to write)
...annnd we're back! ok WOW Glee was amazing!!!!! ok. now we can move on :0)
After a weekend of sibling bonding through Robin Hood and Starbucks I finally pulled the trigger. GOT MY NOOOSE PIIIIERCED! Story time. So I met my friend Maggie downtown for the pre-scheduled adventure at Argo (um... of course.) where I got a hot Carolina Honey - seriously! so good! I don't even LIKE honey. For real I don't and I'd have 2 more of those right now. Anyway. After stopping there I called Insight to see if the main piercer Bob was there, but he wasn't we had to wait til 3 so we took that opportunity to eat just in case I got a little bit TOO excited annnd fainted. (sounds like me right?) We ended up at Qdoba.
I'd like to use this portion in this story-telling entry to just... advocate for Qdoba. It was probably the best burrito I'VE EVER. HAD. The tortilla this lady pulled out was the size of a BLANKET. I've already decided. I'm going back Friday when I get paid. That's already determined. Oh yes. Getting a burrito the size of a small child and being really REALLY happy about life in general. Go there post haste. It's possible I like it more than Chipotle. I believe you will too. That's all for Qdoba talk... for now...
So I called again and Bob (the piercer) was in so we set out. Then we got turned around cuz we didn't know where the blue line was on Washington. For clarification and future reference it's on Washington and Dearborn. Then we got turned around after coming up on Division. We started out on Milwaukee going the wrong way then turned around and went to Ashland thinking it was Milwaukee (my fault!). We FINALLY got onto Milwaukee going the RIGHT way and made it there. We sat for a couple minutes... no one knew we were there so... that was slightly awkward but once we got the ball rolling it was ok. Cleanest place EVER! It definitely made me more comfortable that everything was clean. The jewelry I wanted was the last one so I had to wait 30 minutes for him to sterilize it BUT he knocked some $ off the price! Good deal I say. :0)
I was nervous. Really. Nervous. I halfway freaked out when he put the cork inside my nose. CORK haha. It did hurt but not that bad. I've had waxings worse than that piercing in reality. I did shed one tear but just out of surprise. He gave us Blow Pop's HAHA. Overall a good experience and I lurve it!!
YAY for adventures!!!!
happy picture time.

today's the day
Today is the day I made a baked good FROM SOMEONE THAT'S NOT JOY THE BAKER.
*pause... soak that in...*
It's a new day y'all!
I made these pretty puppies from Shutterbean. My friend Maggie also made them... I'm hoping she'll take pictures, too, and certainly outshine me. She's a photographer. You should hire her for things... I would hire her to follow me around and take pictures of my life all day but... I want to keep her as a friend. ok let's move on. No but for real do it. ANYWAYS.
(Editors note: Maggie DEFINITELY outshone me... sheesh. haha)

These were extra super good. The tea enhances the buttery salty factor and gives it more crunch. I almost ate the dough... but the end result was definitely worth it. I had to wait through all of work to eat them and I think that's what got me through today haha. That's not pathetic at all so uh quit thinking that. Thankssss.
p.s. I had a old African guy call me beautiful today at work... right before his equally old friend yelled at me for going too slowly. *insert Facts of Life theme song here*
p.p.s saw an EXACT look alike of Morris Chestnut at work too today. Stopped dead in my tracks MOUTH OPEN. I'm trying to sport that as an actual look now. O o O...
oh! (geeze will i ever end this!?) and listen to this. It'll brighten your life a little bit :0)

this post might not make sense
I'm basically catching the 5 (woo! 5!) of you that read this up on life in general. Is it weird that every time I say general it's in spanish with a soft 'g'?
OK so observation: everyone and their mother has gotten engaged in the past month and a half. For the record none of the mothers I know has gotten engaged lately but just sayin. I'm also seriously considering making a, "Hey thanks for not inviting me to your wedding even though I probably wouldn't have been able to make it," card. It'll be along the lines of this. OO! but new neeews! I'm m.o.h in a wedding!! That has inspired me to look my best by next April. Watch for that... for now I'll say no more.
I have 2 jorbs! I LURVE IT! It wipes me OUT though haha. There's a lot happening with both and to write it would... be a novel no one would read.
Well onto my spiritual stuckness, which I said I would talk about... yaaay. Well, I figured out some things a while ago and then I didn't do anything, but I figured out the actual NAME of where I am right now. Apathy! I shout that out like it's the best word in the english language. No. No, no. Make no mistake this stage of apathy is um... a) stupid and b) really DUMB. But after the bright lights and awesomeness of being completely and totally on fire for God wears off then it's a choice you make. A daily choice and discipline of, 'who you livin' for?' I ALSO figured out that surrendering is not a one time, "Hey i surrender!...awesome... i did it... woo!" again it's a DAILY choice... for the rest of your life, which seems daunting but everyday we're livin' for SOMETHING. Living for the weekend, to get off work, to find that guy/girl, get some clothes, so choose to live for Christ! It's so easy! And... I'm... still here. So pray :0) *exhales* moving on...
It's hard to really say anything after saying THAT but! Is anyone else really excited for the Cooking Channel to premier?! I know right! I feel like it's the best of Food Network and PBS cooking shows (they hold a special place in my heart) combined. Good things will come from this channel. Speaking of cooking my mom bought whole milk instead of skim (the colored tops really mess with the mind!) and it's got me in a baking mood. I need to bake before my birthday (*checks watch* my grandma should be callin' really soon!). Suggestions? Give up now and go straight to Joy the Baker? Eeeexactly.

granny smith theme song
This is the song I heard at my first day of work and I'm pretty sure I will forever associate this song with it. I think that's a type of psychological term anyone care to identify it? Cuz I sure don't know. Oh, well you can at least listen to the song and feel awesome with me : )
p.s. sorry my posts have not been so substantial lately. But for your viewing pleasure? Quick recap. - I'm busy! all the dang time! - Body-for-Life... I'll say no more - engagement EXPLOSION -M.O.H.! -STILL stuck in the same place spiritually! COME ON! I promise I'll elaborate on everything soon!

not really a point
There has never really been a point to ANYTHING I post but here I feel it's necessary to document for posterity. I lurve posterity.
This morning's conversation with my mom:
Me: *sleeeeeep in the wee hours o'the morning*
Mom: *opens bedroom door* Abby. Abby... Abby! Abby...
Me: *wakes up IMMEDIATELY freaked out that I overslept and look at the clock - it's 6:36AM* What?! what! what?!?
Mom: Aren't you working today?
Me: *groggily* Yes...
Mom: Aren't you taking your car in too?
Me: *slightly more mad, groggily* yes....
Mom: It's 7 o'clock why aren't you UP yet?!
Me: *looks at the clock... looks at my mom... looks at the clock... looks at my mom* It's 6:36!!
Mom: *pause.......* It's 6:36 WHY ARE YOU AWAKE?!
Me: *pause.....* WHAT?!?!?!?!
Mom: sorrryyyyyy.
Me: *sleeps for 8 minutes then wakes up for the day WHEN I WAS SUPPOSED TO at 6:45AM*
absolutely RIDONK.
